Our way of working

The mouth is a part of our body and consists of teeth, muscles, bones, nerves and supporting tissue.  All this has to be treated together. We treat your mouth as one whole entity. This is why it’s important to do a thorough examination of the patient’s overall health condition during the first appointment, in order to be able to establish a correct diagnosis and propose and discuss an appropriate treatment plan for the maximum benefit of our patients.

Examination and treatment plan

Your dental treatment history will be discussed with you and the current situation will be examined and recorded. Step by step, we will go through the medical history form and fill it in together. After the first step, a careful examination of your mouth takes place, followed by X-rays. Based on all evidence collected, the dentist and the patient will discuss potential treatment plans that are tailored for each patient’s unique circumstances.

X-rays

In case there are no recent X-rays available, an OPG (orthopantomogram) will be made at first appointment, as well as two additional bitewing images to give us the clearest available diagnostic tools.

From front line care to esthetics

We work according to our own in-house developed protocol, which is consistent with various guidelines and protocols promulgated by professional organizations. During your first visit this protocol will be discussed with you. As front line care givers we typically prioritize prevention and treating acute pain complaints and inflammation in the mouth by treating caries, gum inflammation and root canals. After the mouth is free of inflammation and is in a stable condition, we can then proceed towards achieving functional stability, followed lastly by esthetics, as desired by our patients

Referrals

We offer a range of treatments in our practice, but dentistry comprises many different disciplines. It can happen that a problem needs to be dealt with by a specialist. In such cases we will discuss the problem with our colleagues and make referrals as necessary in order to ensure the best possible care for our patients. This is the reason why we will always refer our patients to a specialist if it is concluded that that will yield better results.

Our practice works closely with GPs, dieticians, endodontologists, physiotherapists, gnathologists, implantologists, surgeons, dentists for children, orthodontists and prostheticians.
